Finally I made it home, and I guess I just want to share how I am feeling now I am back. The trip back was eventful to say the least, a delay in getting my luggage saw me miss my connecting flight in Cairns. This left me in a world of panic not sure if i would ever make it back to Brisbane but eventually I was able to get on a Qantas flight and get home. Only seven hours later than originally planned. It was so nice to see my family again, and I could not wait until I was able to give my dog a hug.

The next few days consisted of catching up on sleep, and socializing before university began. I must admit it was difficult going straight back to University. As I had been on the tour, I didn't feel like I had even had a holiday! Even though being in Japan itself was a holiday, we had done so many activities and traveled so much, there really wasn't much time to rest. However every second was worth it.

Since being back, I am missing the service you receive in Japan. I enjoyed having people bow at me at checkouts and seeming genuinely grateful for my patronage. Although one of the ladies at the university store did give me a free bag of lollies, overall the service is no where near that of the Japanese. I also miss having vending machines everywhere you go.

On the trip I gained more than just some amazing photos and a suitcase full of souvenirs. I gained lifelong friends, who are interested in the same culture as I am. I also improved my Japanese ability. Constantly reading signs and practicing speaking at every opportunity I could and although my speaking ability has a long way to come, my understanding of Japanese people when they talk has improved greatly.

So to anyone thinking about going to Japan, I would recommend going on an adventure in this amazing country. It will be an adventure you will never forget. I should know, I will remember this trip forever. Even if my memory fades when I get old, I guess I will always have this blog to look back upon.
